UK Wildlife Links.

Here are some links to Wildlife sites that I have found whilst searching for information - more to come: -

Enterprising Wildlife!
  • Wildlife Gardening - has information on sharing your garden with wildlife.

  • Microscopy UK is site which has some great illustrations in its pond life identification kit if you want to identify the minibeasts in your pond.

  • Pond Dipping page from the the Wildfowl and Wetlands trust - has lots of good pictures of pond minibeasts.

  • British Hedgehog Preservation Society

  • The Welsh Hedgehog Hospital - has a lovely site with a particularly good page on making a wildlife garden. Was offline last time I looked but could anyone who knows the new site let me know.

  • Prickly Ball Farm Hedgehog Hospital.

  • Froglife is a charitable organisation that works with volunteers, ecologists, government departments and the public to conserve the native amphibians and reptiles of Britain and Ireland. This is a very good place to start if you want information on the frogs, newts and toads in your pond.

  • Frog, Toad and Newt factsheet - from the Lincolnshire Wildlife Trust. There is also a guide to amphibian and reptile species and information on Red Leg disease.

  • Fanatical About Frogs - is Rajiv's webpage about his wildlife pond, including a wildlife diary.

  • Ice Guard - a clever device that stops your pond freezing solid in winter.

  • CJ Wild Bird Foods, Wiggly Wigglers, Haiths and Garden Bird Supplies all stock good quality bird food - please feed your wild birds a variety of food over the winter. Wiggly Wigglers also stock wild flowers and native pond plants.

  • Faunagarden - stock a variety of wildlife habitats for birds, frogs, insects and mammals. I have their frog house and a couple of different insect habitats in the garden. Choose Product Range and then Habitat links.
